Create & Manage Widgets in Dashboard

Written by Contify Team

Widgets help you bring relevant intelligence into your dashboard, making it easier to monitor companies, markets, competitors, trends, and business developments in one place.

The new dashboard experience introduces a preview-led widget creation workflow, allowing you to see actual widget content before adding it to your dashboard.

You can create widgets using facts, insights, saved searches, datasets, charts, embedded content, and more.

Before You Begin

Before creating a widget, ensure that:

  • You have access to a dashboard with edit permissions

  • The required content (saved searches, facts, insights, companies, or datasets) is already available

  • A dashboard section exists where the widget can be added

Create a Widget

Step 1: Open a Dashboard

Navigate to the Dashboard module and open the dashboard where you want to add a widget.

Step 2: Click Add Widget

Click Add Widget from the dashboard.

This opens the widget creation panel.

Step 3: Choose a Widget Category

Widgets are organized into categories to make discovery easier.

Select the category that best matches your use case.

Layout Elements

Layout elements help organize dashboard content.

Section

  • Create sections to organize your dashboard into meaningful groups and improve content discoverability.

  • Sections help structure related widgets under a common theme, such as Market Overview, Competitor Tracking, or Industry Trends, making dashboards easier to navigate and understand.

  • Each section is also automatically added to the dashboard navigation bar at the top of the page, allowing users to quickly jump to specific sections without scrolling through the entire dashboard.

Sections improve readability and navigation in larger dashboards.

Step 4: Preview the Widget Before Adding

Once configured, click Generate Preview.

The dashboard now allows you to preview the actual widget content before adding it.

The preview helps you:

  • Validate whether the displayed information is relevant

  • Check the widget layout and readability

  • Verify filters and selected inputs

  • Make adjustments before creating the widget

This reduces guesswork and ensures the widget appears as expected.

Step 6: Choose Widget Size

Select the widget size based on how much space the content requires.

Available sizing options include:

  • Full Width

  • ¾ Width

  • ⅔ Width

  • ½ Width

  • ⅓ Width

  • ¼ Width

Choosing the right size helps improve readability and dashboard organization.

Step 7: Select Dashboard Section

Choose the section where the widget should appear.

Sections help organize dashboards into meaningful categories and improve navigation.

Step 8: Click Create Widget

After reviewing the preview and settings, click Create Widget.

The widget will be added to your dashboard.

Manage Widgets

After a widget is added, you can continue modifying it based on your requirements.

Edit a Widget

To update a widget:

  1. Open the widget menu

  2. Click Edit

  3. Update filters, content, or configuration

  4. Save your changes

Resize a Widget

Widgets can be resized to better fit your dashboard layout.

Choose from predefined size options to make widgets larger or more compact.

This helps prioritize important intelligence and improve dashboard readability.

Rearrange Widgets

You can reposition widgets within the dashboard to organize information more effectively.

Drag and place widgets based on importance, category, or workflow preference.

Delete a Widget

To remove a widget:

  1. Open the widget menu

  2. Click Delete

  3. Confirm deletion

Deleting a widget removes it from the dashboard but does not affect the underlying data source.
