Saved Search widgets help you monitor curated intelligence directly within your dashboards by displaying updates from one or more saved searches.
These widgets automatically surface the latest developments related to selected competitors, industries, companies, themes, or topics—making it easier to track intelligence in one place without repeatedly navigating to the newsfeed.
This is especially useful for:
Competitor monitoring
Industry tracking
Product or technology updates
Executive briefings
Topic-based intelligence monitoring
Before You Begin
Before creating a Saved Search widget, ensure that:
You have access to a dashboard with edit permissions
At least one saved search has already been created in the Newsfeed module
If you have not yet created a saved search, first configure and save your search criteria within the Newsfeed module.
How to Create a Saved Search Widget
Step 1: Open Your Dashboard
Navigate to the Dashboard module and open the dashboard where you want to add the widget.
Step 2: Click Add Widget
Click the Add Widget option from the dashboard navigation.
This opens the widget creation experience, where you can select the type of widget you want to add.
Step 3: Select Newsfeed
Under the available widget types, select Newsfeed.
This option allows you to create widgets powered by saved searches from the Newsfeed module.
Step 4: Select One or More Saved Searches
Choose the saved search you want to use for the widget.
You may select:
A single saved search for focused monitoring
Multiple saved searches to consolidate related intelligence into one widget
For example:
Competitor updates
Product launches
Step 5: Choose How You Want to Display the Widget
Depending on your use case, choose how the saved search should be displayed.
For example, you may configure the widget to show updates in different formats like timeline, word clouds etc. based on your preferred way of consuming intelligence.
Select the option that best suits your dashboard layout and information needs.
Step 6: Preview the Widget Before Adding It
Once a saved search is selected, Contify generates a live preview of the widget using actual data.
This preview allows you to:
Verify that the selected updates are relevant
Review how the widget will appear on the dashboard
Adjust the configuration before creation
Validate the overall readability and layout
The preview-led experience helps reduce trial and error and gives greater confidence before adding content to the dashboard.
Step 7: Select Widget Size
Choose the size of the widget based on the importance of the information and available dashboard space.
Available sizing options include:
Full Width
¾ Width
⅔ Width
½ Width
⅓ Width
¼ Width
Larger sizes are recommended for high-priority intelligence or content-heavy widgets.
Step 8: Add the Widget to a Section
Select the section where the widget should appear.
Sections help organize dashboards into logical groups, making information easier to scan and interpret.
Step 9: Give Widget a Title and Description
Click on the Widget Title in Preview to enable inline editing of title field to give a descriptive title
Click on Description field in Preview to give the widget a brief description which will be shown to the users in the dashboard.
